nt scan results!

downs 1 in 3384 (for my age the result was 1 in 292)

trisomy and others 1 in over 10, 000 (for my age the result was 1 in 1517)

So all in all much better news! My results were comperable to a 20 year old. If only I felt that young

We arrived at my new/old OB this morning. The first problem was, I just assumed they were in the same place they were 6 years ago. The address looked similar, but when we arrived at the building, the practice nor doctors were listed on the directory. Of course I didn’t have their number with me either. Finally we arrived at the correct building, then there was more paperwork to fill out and since I still haven’t received my insurance cards, I had to call and get the information the office needed. Once we were in the back, I was very happy to see that my OB hadn’t changed still the same nice, compassionate person he was before. He doesn’t treat me like a hypochondriac or nut when I worry about losing this baby as well. He was my OB for 2 of my losses and my first daughter that was born. After doing our intial visit and going over what’s changed, he took me into a room to use the doppler. I nervously explained that I was particullary worried about this, because when I lost my other babies I was about this far along and the first time I knew something was wrong was when they couldn’t hear the heartbeat on the doppler. With the other babies I lost, I had already had ultrasounds that showed a heartbeat then something changed. With this pregnancy I’ve had 2 ultrasounds at 5 weeks and 9 weeks, but I was still worried. He couldn’t find a heartbeat on the doppler today. He told me he would send me for an ultrasound to ease my mind. So we went to the ultrasound area and waited for about an hour. Apparetnly they were running behind. Finally my OB came and got me and just took me in a room with an ancient old ultrasound. For what we needed it would work! He didn’t even try to use the tummy one, he went straight for the other. The first thing that popped up on the screen was a VERY wiggly baby! Me and my husband were so relieved and my littlest daughter was happily pointing and saying there’s my baby! Since our child was being so wiggly it was very hard to get a heart rate even with the ultrasound, but he finally pinned it down at 162. We’re right on schedule with our due date and so far everything looks good. I can breathe again. We’re going for the NT scan tomorrow at a hospital since they didn’t have a machine there for it. 12 weeks pregnant!

Today I am 12 weeks pregnant. My nausea and other symptoms are starting to wane, but instead of making me feel better, in the back of my mind, I still worry. Yesterday I was supposed to have my NT scan and be reassured that everything was ok, but the doctors office had other ideas. According to their records, my insurance was inactive and they treated me like I was dirt on the bottom of their shoe. I was not given the option to call the insurance company or even to pay for the visit, I was told they would do nothing because I didn’t have insurance. Greed wins over the patients interests everytime. When I got to work, I found out I do have insurance, but made the decesion never to go back to that office. I called the OB I had with my first daughter, who is about an hour from where I live, but worth it. So tomorrow, I have an appointment with him.

Weekly Wisdom: I’m trying to enjoy my time with my other 2 girls and give them individual attention since the baby will get a lot once she’s here

I am sooo tired. I haven’t been sleeping good, all of a sudden our mattress which used to be lovely and comfy is now horrid and makes my back scream. I assume the pregnancy is also adding to the tiredness, but all I know is I really need a nap. Oh and tomorrow, I will be 11 weeks pregnant, it seems to be going by so fast!

preparing for our third baby

I know, I know, it’s really early days still, but I feel like there is so much I need to do. Get around to all those household projects we keep putting off, clean the house like a mad woman, etc. I never really had the “nesting” faze with my other girls, so this is new and seemingly very early. I just feel like I should be doing something to prepare for my little one, but the truth is, there really isn’t that much to do.

feeling somewhat better!

I’m over the stomach virus, but still have strong nausea and migraines. What is a pregnant girl to do with a migraine? Any suggestions? I have been trying to rest as much as possible but my other kiddies want some mommy time too. My husband and our exchange student help entertain them, but I really feel like I’m missing out. Tomorrow is our ultrasound and we should finally have a due date! I hope everything is going well with the pregnancy, I’m still worried about that. Even though my symptoms are much stronger than I’ve ever had, a girl can’t help but worry.

To add to the fact that I have morning/all day sickness, now I also seem to have a stomach bug. I have been sleepless and horribly sick for the last two days. The combination is not fun.

Roller Coaster

Today has been a roller coaster of emotions. I called to check on my acceptance of insurance this morning only to be told I was turned down. All this time, I’m at work and really crying my eyes out after hearing the news. Apparently I will be covered until the end of April, but after that I have to get other insurance. Insurance is available through my work, but it’s very expensive and its Blue Cross. All I’ve heard is such horror stories about them, but at this point I really don’t have a choice. I tried to call the agent for my office that would sign me up, but she is on vacation until next Monday and apparently noone else in their small office can help me. The past couple of days I’ve also noticed that I am starting to swell. Particularly my hands. My rings are tight and you can see a full impression of them when I take them off, especially with my claddagh ring. Then today I started having nosebleeds. I had two. I called the doctor, but they don’t seem concerned at this point. I’m trying not to be, but I’m afraid of having another pregnancy with high blood pressure. The other thing I’ve noticed is anytime I lean forward I get so nauseous I throw up. So far this pregnancy has been so unlike my others, I am anxiously awaiting my u/s on the 28th. I just want to know that everything is going well with the baby and with me.
